AUSTRALIAN DOG PHOTOGRAPHY

It’s pretty unusual to spot snow in Australian pet photography, but Kerry Martin prides herself on scouting awesome locations all around Victoria and Australia, and that includes the snowy plains in the Victorian Alpine Region!

In 2022, Kerry joined 30 other professional photographers around the world for the Tails of the World project, raising over $20,000 for pets in need. She raised $600 for D.A.R.E Rescue, photographing twenty dogs at eight stunning locations.

After photographing Alleria and Breeze in the snow-covered Dinner Plain of the Victoria Alpines, Kerry headed north to sunny Beechworth. Beechworth is a historical Victorian town, famous for its gold rush architecture. Beechworth Gorge was once a hideout for the Kelly gang - now its a pleasant walking trail with views of waterfalls and wilderness. Closer to home, Kerry photographed dogs at various parks around Melbourne’s suburbs, before heading over to neighbouring state of ACT to photograph Clover in Canberra.

Thora, Hakon, Lucian & Vladimir Beechworth, Victoria

These guys are a fun and crazy pack so we wanted beautiful bright colours for this session (they've previously been to the snow where it was a white winter wonderland). Hakon has an amazing story of triumph having overcome cancer against the odds last year. He's haemophiliac and Lucian is his blood donor dog every time he needed a procedure.

Alleria and Breeze Dinner Plain in the Victorian Alpine Region

Alleria was made the snow! These dogs were breed by the Sami people and have predominantly been used for herding reindeer - not that we found any reindeer at Dinner Plain.

Bear, Ace, Lily & Koda

Beechworth is a wonderfully dog friendly historical town in Victoria. We selected this beautiful area to showcase the location and the gorgeous dogs. Run free over the Rainbow Bridge to sweet Bear who was 15 years at the time of the session.

Clover

When it comes to Autumn we're spoilt for choice in Australia's Capital City of Canberra. And one of the best is the National Arboretum - a perfect backdrop for making a beautiful white Japanese Spitz stand out.

Emmie

Kyneton Botanic Gardens is a fav garden for autumn and it was perfect for letting Emmi play, sniff & pose. She even had an accidentally swim here.

Eski & Elmo

15 year old Eski and 15 week old Elmo wanted to chase leaves. At least Elmo did! Sweet Eski wanted to wander about.

Jorgie, Pippa & Harley

We wanted an area of beautiful Australian flora for this session and along the Yarra River in Warburton you'll find a beautiful spot for a walk or a photo session.

Mika

Mika's favourite colour is pink so the roses found at Wilson Botanic Park were perfect for her. Sadly, this beautiful girl gained her angel wings unexpectedly and suddenly not long after we photographed her and just shy of her third birthday with cancer.

Bella & Riley

Emerald Lake Park is probably most well known for being along Puffing Billy's railway line. It's a beautiful spot with both autumn colours, green ferns and a lake.
