MICHIGAN DOG PHOTOGRAPHY

The ‘Great Lakes State’ of Michigan is bordered by four of the five North American Great Lakes and home to spectacular natural beauty. In 2022, photographer Jennifer McCallum of Firefly Pet Photography joined 30 other artists around the world for the Tails of the World project, all celebrating their home towns with fundraising pet photoshoots.

Jennifer raised $1000 for Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue by photographing twelve Michigan dogs around the Detroit and Northville area. From Tag the Corgi in golden Grand Rapids forest to Bernie with the ice off the shoreline of Mackinaw City, to little Olive the Dachshund in the field of flowers at Maybury State Park. Jennifer managed to capture a little of every season with these photoshoots and the results are magical!

Tag Grand Rapids, Michigan

I've dreamed of having a photoshoot in this wildflower forest for years. And Tag was the perfect pup to pair with the trilliums. Tag loves to pose for the camera and she loves being with her mom so everyone had a wonderful morning in this magical forest.

Olive Maybury State Park

Olive is the most darling mini dachshund. Her mom describes her as fun, happy and a little stubborn. I definitely saw the fun and happy side of Olive at our photo experience. Maybury State Park is one of my favorite locations, I had scouted this field of flowers the day prior and knew we had to come to here.

Violet Northville, Michigan

While we all love to complain about snow, I love the beauty that every season brings. I think the snow transforms the landscape and makes the perfect backdrop. Violet is a Newfoundland and would happily stay outside in the snow all day, so she was definitely up for a walk through a Northville neighborhood for her photo experience.

PJ

PJ is a 2 year old Pomsky bursting with cuteness. We held our photoshoot just before sunset in the alley of pine trees and old stone ruins of the Stony Creek Metropark, one of my favorite spots for a photoshoot. Everyone who meets PJ falls in love with him, and that includes me!

Disney

Disney not only has one of the coolest names, but it's completely fitting! Disney is ready for his own action movie - he can do his own stunts, doesn't mind wardrobe changes, and he's so smart that he could probably direct the movie himself! Photographed at Stony Creek Metropark

Bernie

While this location looks like it might be Iceland, it's actually northern MIchigan! When I heard of a rare blue ice formation just off the shoreline of Mackinaw City I knew I had to capture it. Bernie felt right at home and didn't want to leave after the photoshoot!

Atlas and Apollo

We chose the EE Ford House at Grosse Pointe Shores for Atlas and Apollo's photoshoot experience, because we knew these pups needed a grand background. This family has style! Every detail was perfect, including the weather, I couldn't have asked for more.

Tag

Diggle

This is Diggle, a Yorkie who believes that everyone loves him....and he's right! Diggle shared his photoshoot with his twin human siblings and his mom, and we all had so much fun that we didn't want the experience to end. Photographed at Greenmead Historical Village.

Willow and Halia

Willow and Halia are gorgeous Bouvier des Flandres pups. They may look similar at first glance, but their personalities set them apart. Willow is the big sister and a little more laid back. Halia is the younger, playful pup. Together they made our photoshoot at this metropark an absolute blast. Photographed at Lake Erie Metropark.

Vinnie

Vinnie's mom described him as always needing to be touching someone and super loving and friendly. He's the perfect Labrador representative! Fall is a magical time in Michigan, and it's my favorite season. Photographed at Maybury State Park.

Wine sommelier turned professional pet photographer, Jennifer McCallum started Firefly Pet Photography with the belief that life can be crazy and stressful, but our pets have the magical power to bring joy into our lives.
