Dogs by Michelle Petkovic Photography

Less than 30 minutes away from bustling downtown Austin, TX you’ll find Lake Travis. Formed by the damming of the Colorado River, Lake Travis is 65 miles long and surrounded by beautiful hill country. Dogs and their people enjoy the rolling hills of wild flowers and stunning sunsets over the lake.

In 2023, Kim Ortiz joined professional photographers around the globe to make a difference for pets in need with 'Tails of the World'. This unique collaborative project celebrates dogs with an annual coffee table book and our latest volume has raised over $65,000 for animal rescue!

Kim raised US$500 for SAFE Refuge of Central Texas with ten pet photoshoots at Aloha Hacienda and Mansfield Dam Park, both locations near Lake Travis.

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

I love dogs. I have six rescue dogs and my studio located in Austin, Texas specialize in dogs and the people who love them. I believe it is so important to have portraits done of your dog so they can live forever since dogs are only with us for a limited amount of time. My studio dog of 12 years Lexie, a long hair chihuahua my husband gifted me for Christmas was my heart and inspiration. She passed suddenly at age 12 in 2017 and it broke my heart. I couldn't stop thinking about her and I am thankful that I have so many wall portraits of her in my home and studio so she lives forever. I was so depressed and sad for a year after Lexie passed and Leilani came into my life and saved me.
